I’ve been working and haven’t
slept in the last 26 hours so I’m starting to zone out now… *laugh* Before we
hop back to pics from the land of the sushi, I wanna do one last tribute to the
Malaysian food for the week. Bear with me! Haha. Y’know, after all the years in
KL searching for the good ol’ roti
benggali (soft fluffy bread with a harder thicker crust which the breadman
would usually cut off when you buy your loaf) which I thought never existed in
KL, I finally found bliss… *laugh*
steamed roti benggali
In Penang, bread like this is
usually sold by the Indian breadmen who usually go around the neighbourhoods on
their motorcycles in the evening with an ice-cream bell. Hehe. You could buy
bread like this on its own, or request for it to be sliced in half and stuffed
with Planta margarine and kaya. Yummmy~ Hehe.
hiding out at my little corner in Papa Rich. Haha.
Anyways, the fulfilment of having
your childhood favourite is simply indescribable. Haha. Ok ok, without straying
too far from the topic, I found this chain of modern ‘kopitiam’ which in my personal opinion, is giving Old Town White Coffee a run for its
money. Better food, better service (the foreign workers that work there are
always on their toes to serve you, which is a nice change from mediocre or
typically bad Malaysian service *laugh*. We have a lot to improve on in that
sector), nicer environment. It’s merely my personal take though ya, no
intention of offending any Old Town
White Coffee fans ya. Haha. I know there are many outlets to this Papa Rich franchise in KL, but so far, I have only been to the
one in PJ Section 14 so my take on
this is good only for this outlet ya. I’m not sure about the rest. Perhaps
you’ll have something to say about this. *laugh*
char-koay-teow
curry mee - not the best yet not too bad either *laugh*
cendol - not on top of my recommended list though... this one was quite a disappointment
barley lime - don't order this either! Haha.
Anyways, although not EVERYTHING
on the menu is great, there are a few must-haves which I would personally recommend
– the steam bread (please ask for extra kaya to get a nice ratio of 2:3 for
butter/kaya *grin*), soya-cincau-gula Melaka and the char koay teow (not as good as the ones you find in Penang, but
close, or perhaps one of the next best alternatives in KL *laugh*). Try it and
let me know what you think k… *smile*
the steaming corner, where the magic happens. Haha.
