Kakiage is a type of tempura made
with mixed vegetable strips, such as onion, carrot, and burdock, and sometimes
shrimp, deep fried in a big round fritter. *grin* The one you get in Sakae
Sushi is not the correct version BTW, because unlike tempura, it’s supposed to
be stuck together as 1 big fritter instead of being separated into bits.
Not sure if you get what I mean, but this
is what it’s supposed to look like. *laugh* The real and authentic Kakiage…
the real deal
I was also told that one of the
best places to eat Kakihage is at Asakusa. I’ll tell you more about my visit to
Asakusa in the next post, but for now if you're looking for a good place to eat Kakihage in Asakusa, look for THIS shop! *wink*
