New J-pop hair

As promised here are pics of my new Jap makeover! Hehe. It’ll definitely take some getting used to but I could live with this for a while. *laugh*

with my stylist Momoi San *smile*

Got it done at Watanabe Hair Salon in Harajuku by Momoi San and I reckon he did a fantabulous job! *smile* What do you think? Hehe. Cost me ¥23,500 (~RM720) though… but with Japan’s standard of living, it’s considered pretty decent. Gotta stop myself from converting man! Haha. Haih, otherwise sakit hati only… *laugh*

outside the salon *smile*

Gonna be working on a brand new Japanese song for this week’s pre-production. I hit the studios for vocal recording on Tuesday but tomorrow we’ve got a run through with my Japanese vocal coach, Kazyo Sensee after my Jap language school in the evening. Gotta head to the management office earlier tomorrow before heading for school so gotta try and get some sleep soon. *smile*

with brilliant singer Kazyo Sensee and Mr. Kim, a famous and very talented Korean blues musician/singer BEFORE my haircut. Hehe

For those of you who will be going away earlier for Chinese New Year, hope you’ll have a good one with your families. *smile* Gong Xi Fa Cai in advance and eat some extra cookies and collect some extra ang-pao’s for me too ya! Hehe.

Looking forward to spending time with my family VIRTUALLY via Skype this Sunday… which will definitely make up for me being alone in Japan this time round. Haha. Sad but happy at the same time. Oh ya, I just realized that since I’m away this CNY I won’t be able to collect any ang-paos!!!! :-(

Oh well, hopefully if I work hard enough this year, God will prepare a big and special double bonus for me next year! Haha. Ok, I think I’ve been rambling a bit too much already. Time to hit the sack. Hehe. Night everyone. Have a fantabulous week ahead and lotsa love from Tokyo. *smile* Mwahhhhhhh~

Live in Kabuto, Shibuya (Part 2)
Written by Hannah Tan

So many things to do this week. Hehe. Trying to juggle my work in Malaysia as well, apart from the things I’m doing in Japan. And not forgetting that I also have my Jap language classes to attend with daily homework to take back everyday too (back to school again!!! Haha)… It’s a nice change though, from the typical schedule I’m used to back in Malaysia. At least I’m actively exercising my brains a lil' more now on top of everything else (with the Language learning bit *laugh*), and the cool weather can be rather refreshing at times, so no complaints! Haha. I love Japan. *smile* I love Malaysia too of course. Hehe. Most! *grin* Gosh, I miss home so much... :-(

Anyways, we finished pre-production for the week just a few hours ago in the studio, and yes, I sang in Japanese! Hehe. Can’t wait to let you listen to the Jap materials when it’s finally ready for release in August if all goes well. *smile*

Oh and my thumb is gradually recovering so that's good. Don't know how long I'll be able to keep doing things with 1 hand but the bleeding has stopped so hoping the wound will dry up soon! Hehe. Thanks for your concern and advice, and of course, all the luuaaaarve as well. Hehe. What would I do without you? Hehe.

BTW , here are pics from the live gig as promised. Hehe. Sorry I took so long. Didn’t get to take any on my own camera but finally got everyone to send me pics from theirs. Hehe. Here you go! *grin*

post-event photo op with the wonderful people of all ages who came to support *grin*

my Japanese parents too!!! Shimazaki papa and Akiko mama. It was such a wonderful surprise! Hehe

my japanese language classmates also made time for me. They're the best! *smile*

the end... my first live performance in Tokyo *smile* More to come!!! Hehe

If you missed the video snippet of the event, you can still see it here... Hehe. I'll post up pics of my new J-pop look next. Oh and snow too...hehe. PLUS the codes for you to download my latest Single (3 - tracks) onto your mobile phones as caller ring tones, true tones, etc... Can't wait! *grin* Big hugs and lotsa luarrrrve from Tokyo! *smile*

100% for the last Hiragana test, in injured thumb and snow in Tokyo!
Written by Hannah Tan
Monday, 01 February 2010

God is so gracious to me. That’s all I can say. Haha. Another miraculous full marks for my last Hiragana test as we wrapped up the syllabus to start off with our first Katakana lesson today. So the nightmare continues… haha.

From this week, everything at the language school will be taught in Hiragana and no more words in Romaji like what I’m so used to… haih! Haha. Gambarimasu yo! Haha. Well, to speed up the learning process, I also had the current pre-production song I’m working on written in Hiragana! Hehe.

Oh and clumsy me – I accidentally sliced of 2 tiny chucks of flesh off my thumb last night in the kitchen and it’s still bleeding today although not as much tho, thankfully. The part where the skin came off doesn’t hurt as much as the 2 holes in the flesh. Haha. Oh well, at least I’ll learn to be more careful the next time, and appreciate taking my shower and doing everything else with the 2 hands and palms God gave me even more! Haha.

I got caught in the rain today heading back from the language school in the afternoon but later this evening when I came home from work, I was pleasantly surprised by my first snowy night in Tokyo!!!! Woohoo~ This pic was taken when it just started snowing. Hopefully tomorrow everywhere will be covered with snow! Hehe. Christian Bautista suggested I dip my injured thumb in the snow and thinking about it now, it seems to be a rather good idea! Christian you’re a genius! Haha.

Till tomorrow guys. Sleep tight! *grin*

Showa Women’s University, Tokyo
Written by Hannah Tan
Sunday, 31 January 2010

My Japanese language school organized a field trip for us today to attend an event at the Showa Women’s University as an introduction to a few Japanese culture-related activities. The entire event, put together by the students of the university itself was a very educational one for us, not to mention fun too! *smile*

They not only walked us through the art of the Akido martial arts and the koto (Japanese harp) playing, but also mochi pounding, calligraphy, traditional Japanese toys and the yukata (summer kimono)! Check this out! Your Japanese panda… *bow* Hehe...

As with kimono, the general rule with yukata is that younger people wear brighter colours and bolder patterns than the older ones. Hehe. A child might wear a multi-coloured print and a young woman, a floral print, while an older woman would confine herself to a traditional dark blue with geometric patterns. (Note the colours of our yukatas…) Bottomline – we were all still considered very young women! Haha.

For those of you who do not know what mochi is, it’s actually a Japanese rice cake made of glutinous rice which is pounded into paste and moulded into shape. In Japan it is traditionally made in a ceremony called mochitsuki (the pounding which I’m seen doing here! *grin*). While also eaten year-round, mochi is a traditional food for the Japanese New Year (1st January) and can be served in a variety of different ways, from sweet to savoury! *wink*

I totally enjoyed myself this afternoon thanks to the wonderful students of the Uni who graciously put the event together for the group at no cost to us. *smile* Thank you ladies for doing such a great job and making us feel so at home!!! *smile*

In my next post, I’ll show you what we did after the event…hehe. Have a wonderful weekend everyone! *smile*
