I’m not alone this CNY thanks to
my self-proclaimed extended family, the Liew
klan! *laugh* My best friend Jamie
and her family were so kind as to invite me over for their CNY eve reunion dinner with the best home cooked food in town! Filled
with fresh seafood and other goodies, Aunty
Pat’s (Jamie’s mum) yee sang is the ultimate best of the
best. *smile* In fact it was the highlight of my week! Hehe.
For those who didn't know, yee sang is actually an appetizer served during CNY to raise the 'good luck' for the new year. It is a tradition for families and friends gather around the table and on cue, proceed to
toss the ingredients of this dish into the air with chopsticks while saying auspicious wishes out loud to mark the start of a
prosperous new year. The higher you toss, the
greater your fortune! *wink*
untouched yee sang
after the tossing process, all ready to be eaten! Hehe
As usual, it’s THIS time of the
year which I pig out like there’s no tomorrow. And hey, you can’t blame me for
that because how could you possibly say no to food like this?! *laugh*
steamed chicken with potatoes and button mushrooms
the greens with yummy scallops
mutated prawns. Haha. Aren't they gigantic?!
teo chew duck
fried fish with thai sauce
Oh and for those who made time to
catch up with me during this month’s family hour on Saturday, I just wanna say
a very big THANK YOU. You definitely made my week. *smile*

It was an honour for me to be on
the set of The Breakfast Show again
yesterday, with hot mama Daphne Iking.
Although the format has changed a little, the energy level remains the same,
with the same nice people still diligently working hard to give us viewers the
news of the day, in the best possible way. *smile*
on set with the hot mama
It’s often taken for granted the
effort and time put in by the people behind-the-scenes a.k.a. production team,
to make sure us viewers are entertained, regardless of the nature or format of the
program. Imagine having to be up by 5am every day (for some, even earlier), and
still remain ‘sober’ for the rest of the afternoon to work on the following
morning’s content. And mind you, television hosts on live programs like these
aren’t actually allowed to have ‘off’ days, having to stay alert and cheery on
screen regardless of whether they had a bad start to the day or not. Tough job,
indeed, which is why people like these have my greatest respect. *smile*

BIG BOSS @ Producer @ Superwoman Intan!
Oh, and it was my lucky day as well - had the chance to catch M. Zul in his new hairdo. So handsome... hehe.

Chinese New Year is just round the corner and guess what?! I get to
be in KL for at least the 1st
day! *grin* So happy!!!!! Hehe. Unfortunately
my family will be in Kuching at that
time so I’ll be pigging out with my best friend Jamie’s family (I call them the Liew klan, hehe) instead. Her mum, Aunty Pat, makes the BEST yee
sang ever. I’ll try to get some shots for you to salivate on k… *laugh*
No but seriously, her yee sang is simply heavenly. Nothing beats homecooked food! *smile*
I know a few companies that
actually imposed forced leave on their staff for Wednesday and Thursday next
week, so looks like a really long weekend for most people. *smile* Are you guys
headed back to your hometowns or will you be simply enjoying the congested-free
roads this festive season? *wink* I know I’ll definitely be doing the latter,
so for those heading out of KL, the
sooner the better! *laugh* But if you’re driving, remember to be safe on the
road ya. *smile* Oh and if you have time this Friday (23rd January
2009), tune in with me on Wanita Hari Ini:
Time: 12pm (LIVE)
Channel: TV3

I had the opportunity to spend
some time with my 2nd sister Gloria
while she was in KL a while back for
her very first corporate job interview. Having graduated with a double degree in
Accounting and Finance from Curtin U
in Perth, she had to come back to work for a
big-4 in order to complete the final phase of acquiring the qualification of a chartered
accountant.
There’s a six year gap between
the both of us but I suppose as you grow up the difference becomes less
evident. *laugh* She’s a wonderful person and I couldn’t have asked God for a
better sister. *smile* So ironic though, that as I leave for Japan,
she moves in to KL. *laugh* I’m
looking forward to my first trip to Perth in February though, for Gloria’s convocation on the 24th.
I’ve already bought my flight ticket so
I suppose that although I would most likely have to spend Chinese New Year alone in Tokyo
this year, time with my family this February
will make up for all that. *smile*
