The anticipation builds as music enthusiasts and festival goers pack the grounds in wait for the highlight of the week - Metallica. *grin* Check out the crowd!

Although the sound system at the main stage during the first 2 days was really bad (surprisingly), the problem seemed to be rectified during the performance. Not sure if they added more speakers or just panned the existing ones for a wider reach. Whatever the case, they did it right and the performance was a remarkable one indeed. *smile*

Reading Day 3

It's back to the Reading Music Festival and since it's the last of the lot this summer, I thank God the weather's been holding up well so far. I always like to believe that we CAN bring the sun with us wherever we go. *wink* So since its been following me around, just out of curiousity I have to ask - Has it been raining back in KL? *laugh*

in my wellies, all set for a mud bath JUST in case it rains!

The second day of the Festival was spent touring the festival grounds - activity spots, food stalls, speciality shops - and of course, getting sandwiched among music enthusiasts and party goers.

*laugh* Interestingly enough, we came across a food stall selling some so-called Malaysian food. *laugh* Ganesh, a friend from Malaysia who coincidently happened to be in UK at the same time, joined us for 2 days of the festival. He had a craving for Indian food on day 2 of the festival so we had just that. *smile* Not too bad for festival food though... *wink*

Reading Day 2 (Part 2)
Written by Hannah Tan
Tuesday, 26 August 2008

I'm so sorry for the delay. I've been having problems with the internet connection here at the hotel. =( Anyway, I'm glad to be connected again to post up Part 2 of Day 2 at Reading. *smile* We've had an introduction to the Festival. Nevertheless as always, no coverage of a music festival is complete without pictures of the people present... *wink*

Reading Day 2 (Part 1)

Our anticipation for the music festival was rewarded by the beautiful English weather, despite forecasts of showers in the day. To top it up, the atmosphere at the festival was amazing, with the presence of thousands of music enthusiasts (particularly the rock genre of course *laugh*), some rather interesting shops and lots of food stalls! *grin* I reckon, slightly more colourful compared to Global Gathering. *smile* Apparently there was an internet scam which left almost 5,000 people ticketless at the entrance, so we had random people coming up to us asking if we would sell our tickets (and later wristbands) just to get into the festival grounds.

now you know why it's almost impossible to sneak in without a ticket? *laugh*

Thanks to Tuborg, we had the opportunity of going in as privileged guests, which meant we could eat our meals proper instead of having to camp and sit on the grass (which eventually became contaminated with beer spills and waste). Poor Kimberly and KC were almost freezing to death towards the later part of the night, but other than that I reckon we all had a good time. *smile*

you can never miss the typical festival food - bacon burger!

During the breaks Leonard and I took a walk around the festival grounds, and managed to check out a few interesting shops.

i ended up buying this one. Hehe.

Leo decided not to buy this though... brings out the feminine side of him, don't you think? *laugh*

I ended up getting myself a few items at bargain prices, true Malaysian style. *laugh* Can you imagine a sheepskin coat at 10 pounds? *wink*

More pictures! *grin* Now, allow me introduce you to our two hosts from Tuborg/Carlsberg Malaysia - Eugene and Chui Hoon! *smile*

chui__eugene.jpg
Don't they look like J-pop stars? *laugh*

Chui Hoon is one of the most resourceful people I know, not to mention wonderful, pleasant and intelligent. *smile* It's my second time travelling with her and it's impossible not to notice how much detail she goes into, just to make sure we have a blast. *smile* The hotel she picked this trip is simply unbelievable. Quaint but cosy, you're bound to wanna come back for more. Tell you about that later. *wink* But for now, I have pictures from yesterday as promised. *smile*
