My broadband is fixed!

Finally! Now I get to access the internet from home. Yay! *grin* Just got back from ‘school’… *laugh* And I believe it or not, I have to take home Japanese language homework every day! Haha.

Trying to cram everything in with this intensive course I’m taking at a Japanese Language school in Shibuya so that I can sing and work more effectively while I’m here. *smile* Back to ground zero and it feels almost like when I moved to Kuala Lumpur from the small Penang island 9 years ago. I guess it’s a decade’s progression ya… *laugh* Being taken out of comfort zone is something that is not easy to deal with, yet, it’s the only way to enforce growth in various areas of our lives. And being in an environment which is almost 5 paces of more faster than what I’m used to back in KL, gives me an opportunity to be more productive, which is great. *smile*

Doing my best to practise my hiragana every day so that this old brain of mine can keep up with the rest of the class. *laugh* Soon I should be able to read Japanese. Yay! Hehe. Ganbarimasu (try my best)! Hehe.

I’m getting used to the weather here and am really looking forward to the snow! Haha. I look out the window every morning hoping that it’s a snowy day but that’s yet to happen although it did rain yesterday making it no less colder than it already is! Haha.

Public transportation here is very efficient and you’d probably get to your destination faster by train than being on the road. It’s much cheaper too, although in general the cost of living in Tokyo is ranked as the highest in the world, followed by Osaka, Moscow, Geneva and Hong Kong. From my place to the Japanese language school is 2 stops by train for me, and living close to the station makes it very convenient indeed, so no complaints! *smile*

This week we had 3 new students joining us in class all the way from Germany, Spain and Vietnam, so the class is growing. *laugh* My teacher doesn’t speak English though, which makes it pretty much a guessing game in class especially when you’re not really familiar with Japanese to begin with, but I’m getting the hang of it. I hope it makes me learn faster!!!! Haha.

Anyways, I can’t believe it’s already the middle of the week! *grin* Time flies and I guess this change of lifestyle has allowed me to live more healthily to begin with this year. I sleep earlier and get at least 6 hours of sleep every night as compared to the sleepless nights in KL! *laugh* Cheers to 2010~ Haha. Gotta finish up my homework for today so catch up with you tomorrow!!! Mwah~

Japanese pasta
Written by Hannah Tan
Tuesday, 12 January 2010

The internet connection at my Japan home is still not up yet so I’m currently using the office broadband. Saturday through Monday was a holiday so the office was closed but I’m happy to be able to upload a post now! Haha. Hope you guys had a good weekend! *smile*

Despite the cold here in Tokyo, the sun is sill up which makes it really nice actually. *grin* And over the weekend, I had the chance to catch up with my Japanese family (Shimazaki papa and Tomoki, his son. Akiko mama was at work so didn’t get the chance to see her then). *smile* They took me out for lunch at a Japanese pasta shop in Meguro. It’s very different from the standard Italian pasta but that doesn’t discount the fact that it’s also very tasty! Oishi des! Hehe.

The pasta noodles are pretty much similar to what we get back home but the preparation is varied slightly. It’s the dry type with the essence of what you ordered already being saturated in the noodles, so despite it not having much ‘sauce’ to begin with, it still tastes yummy! *grin* Since ikura (salmon egg) is one of my favourite Japanese food, I chose to try the ikura pasta for lunch. Hehe. No regrets though because it was deee-li-cious! *grin* Aiks, now I feel like eating the ikura pasta again!!! Haha. Hungry, hungry! Haha.

I’ve been a really good panda doing my Japanese language homework every day BTW…hehe. Back to school again and learning the hiragana is not an easy task at all… *laugh* …especially since I can’t read and write Chinese to begin with. *laugh* Oh well, there’s always a first time to everything ay? Hehe. I’m doing my best to keep up so wish me luck! Haha. Hope you’re having a great start to the week! Big warm hugs from the land of the sushi… love you! Mwah~

Japanese burger meal
Written by Hannah Tan
Friday, 08 January 2010

I’m not a big fast food fan and the last thing I would eat is a burger for a meal but having the Japanese-style burger meal recently really changed my perception of burgers for the better. *laugh* Here you can have REAL meat patties or what you would call a ‘burger’, with rice and soup! Haha. I’m so Malaysian I cannot live without my rice so at least this is one area that the new city accommodates me with! Hahahaha!

I started my Japanese language classes at Arc Academy yesterday and it felt so strange being back to school again! Haha. But I finally stopped procrastinating with formal classes to master the language so I deserve a hug from you! Hahaha. I reckon our living room here at the blog is the only place where I’ll get to completely express myself in English while I’m in Japan but it’s good in a way that I’m forced to learn more at a quicker pace as compared to if I were to have picked up lessons in Malaysia ay? *grin*

Monday is a public holiday in Japan and the broadband at my new crib will only be up on Wednesday so until the office opens again will I get to access the net. But meantime, here’s a big warm panda hug from you all the way from chilly Tokyo. Mwah~
