A strong sense of vibe, infused by anticipation, excitement and energy filled the air as 2000 people, consisting of mostly youth of between the age of 13 to 26, made their way to the Sunway Pyramid Convention Hall for 3 nights of conference. Friends and family of City Harvest Church KL and delegates, of whom some has traveled from as far as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and Japan are clearly not disappointed, as they witness a youth conference one – of its – kind ever held in Malaysia.
At the front row, you will see a star – studded affair with many VIPs, local and international celebrities making guest appearances at the event; some will be interviewed on – stage, some will be giving special performances, and some will be made honorary judges for various competitions.
You will also see youths clad in different colours lifting their banners in pride, signifying their support for the various clusters they are a part of, namely the MINT cluster (made up of students of Metropolitan, Inti, Nilai and Taylor colleges), Local U cluster(made up of students from all local universities in Malaysia), SMU cluster (made up of students from Sunway College and Monash University) and VU cluster (made up of students from colleges and universities not mentioned above). All eyes are set on the much coveted Emerge KL 2008 challenge trophy.
First off, we have the Parade of Schools, a segment that involves teamwork combining cheerleading, hip – hop dancing and stomping. If not awed enough by this, the men and women of Beauty Pageant and Manhunt finals will prove to you that good looks combined with wit and brains is what it takes to be a real champion.
As the age of the Reality TV sets it, up next is the Extreme Makeover, a competition that sees how a person has changed in terms of physical appearance and fashion in a short span of 2 months. Aspiring chefs will also bring to you sweet aroma in the Iron chef segment in a ‘live’ kitchen.
Other interesting competitions that will be held are Spelling Bee, Wrestling and Nintendo and PS2 finals. Prizes and vouchers will also be given away to winners of The Apprentice, a gameshow emulating the famous show by Donald Trump, and winners of the competitions in the Sports, Media and Design categories which had been held for the past 2 months.
Each night, the band from City Harvest Church Singapore will also bring to you vibrant and explosive music that will blow your mind away. Rev Kong Hee, a renowned speaker and the Senior Pastor of City Harvest Church Singapore, will also speak to youths and encourage them on how to be relevant in the society today. He will aspire everyone to use their talents and abilities to achieve their destiny.
