Borneo’s ‘buah tarap’

Have you guys seen this before? Hehe…

One of my favourite fruits, buah tarap or more commonly known in Sarawak as buah kiran is a seasonal tropical fruit native to Borneo. It looks like a round spiky jackfruit with creamy insides similar to that of a cempedak. Yet I reckon it tastes a lil’ more creamy and has less fibre compared to the cempedak. Nicer too! All ready to dig in!!!! Haha.

Best served chilled, the fruit needs to be eaten immediately after opening as it oxidizes very fast. I have no problems with that though… an entire fruit on its own can fit very nicely in my tummy in 1 sitting. Haha. Yummy yummy!

caught for being such a glutton! Hahahaha

this is what it looks like all eaten up! Haha.

I’ve been having 1 whole fruit with every meal since I got back to Kuching and my mum’s friend just sent in 20 more from the kampung so I’m gonna be one happy camper with excellent bowel movements while I’m here! Hahahaha. Anyways, have a wonderful start to the week and big hugs from the rejuvinated panda~ Hehe. Love LOVE you! *grin*

    Hi Hannah,

Do you know the seeds can be eaten too? Just boil it with few dashes of salt and peel of the seed’s skin and it taste as good as the fruit itself! *wink*

Btw, I’m back from KK. Was having a marvelous time there! Going up the mountain and snorkeling at the island was fantabulous! And not to miss out, having my X’mas AND Boxing Day Dinners at Seri Mutiara were totally awesome! Great seafoods and most of all, reasonable price! I still can’t forget the giant oysters I had!! Oh gosh! *drool*

As for the concert, I had a great time being there, and being part of the of spirit of giving. His Excellency the Japanese Ambassador with his rendition of ‘Getaran Jiwa’ really surprises me. As for the rest, they are all superb!

Hannah, it is so wonderful to see that your whole family were there for you, including your grandma? *smile* and yes, meeting you in person is truly a great honour for me. (never actually thought it would happened). Thanks a lot! God Bless!
