The ultimate martial art all-in-one competition. It somehow reminds me of the 1-Malaysia concept, except that this relates specifically to competitive fighting. *laugh* Put together people from different martial art backgrounds, make them fight against one another in a ring for 3 rounds of 3 minutes each (with the occasional extra tie-breaker rounds) and you get K-1. This is where karate, kickboxing, muay thai, taekwondo, savate, san shou, wester-style boxing, etc. meet in combat. Fascinating indeed. As a spectator of course. I couldn’t imagine being in the ring and getting punched in the face, stomach, head, and kicked in the legs while being watched by 3,000 pair of eyes (which doesn’t include the broadcast audience mind you). *laugh*

…get in line! Mad, mad queue!

the arena where all the action happens *wink*
I guess now I can strike “WATCH A LIVE FIGHT” off my list of things-I-wanna-do-before-I die. *laugh* I didn’t think that I would have been so fortunate as to get to do this sitting at the very front audience row (right behind the time-keeping ‘bell-man’) though, but hey, no complaints!!!! Haha. And thanks to Mr. Sadaharu Tanikawa, CEO of FED Inc., we also had an all-access backstage pass. *wink*

lucky fist-timer! *laugh*
Although I reckon not many Malaysians like me have heard about K-1, it seems to be a pretty big thing in Japan, not to mention the U.S. and other European countries around the globe, having existed for more than a decade already.

What really impressed me most was the fact that this Japanese-founded competition was staged as a complete production (complete with lighting, sound, multimedia and the works) making it a very well packaged martial arts entertainment show. Think WWF, except with real blood and knockouts. Sweet ay? Hehe.

It was a long evening though, from 5pm right up till 9.45pm with 12 back-to-back fights. And silly me – I forgot to slot in my camera SD card (left it in my notebook slot) so I ended up having to take most of the pics on my iPhone. Oooo, but I have a few video clips of the fight, so will post that up once I finish putting it together k. For now, you’ll have to bear with the iPhone pics (sorry about the pic quality *laugh*) but at least you get the pic. *smile* The last fight of the day barely lasted 1.10 minutes due to a knockout so that was quite an experience. All I can say is that I take my hats off to all the fighters for having the guts to consciously put themselves through what they did. Respect!

Respect Girl!! Thanks for sharing the insigthful infos. I never really know about K1. Heard of ‘Kumite’ before. Actually never been to any fighting matches before. must be really7 Fast they move ya? Got Blood splattering, I;m sure. Check out the fitness level and the abs too (so fit and the 6 pack-ish). I have only 2 pack now, needs to really work out harder for the next 4 to pop up. ooooohhhhhhh : (
Have a Great Day Y’all.
Cheerio…
I’ve not heard of K-1 at all but based on the pictures it really seems to be as popular as the WWE in the states. Awesome !
So did you manage to catch any bloody moments ?
watched it once. muay-thai not so teruk compared to K-1. just picture gore, blood, blue black bruises, etc etc etc… more like street fight but with rules :p
(thx Hannah for the advice in the previous entry)
owh ya, remember last time you’re always on TV? now leo’s band ‘AnHonestMistake’ is covering almost all of the local music scenes. interviews la, gigs la… mana tau in the near future, they do their own concert. LAGI BEST! XD
So it is boxing. hehehe… oops! Its ok, hannah. As long as you enjoy your..fight? =p A month to go.. Hannah, you will be back next month, rite?
Esquire, same for me. This was my first!!! Haha. And don’t feel to bad about the 6 pack. At least you have 2. Mine merged into a 1-pack. Haha. And yeah, there were some pretty nasty fights but unfortunately I did a boo boo with the recording. Haha. Just uploaded the one and only proper clip I have on the computer. The milder one unfortunately. Wish I had the last fight on video tho – that was a total knock-out in less than 2 minutes! Hehe.
LC, yes indeed and with the bloody moments, unfortunately since I couldn’t zoom in any closer with the iPhone, I don’t have any to show you guys. So sowie… It’s not AS bloody as you would’ve imagined tho…just blood on the face, nose and some body parts. No blood splattering of any kind la. Haha.
Adli, you’re right. Well at least the fighters in K-1 get to wear gloves tho…haha. I can’t imagine the internal bleeding these fighters have to put up with considering all the punches and such. Kesian. Anyways I hope things will get better for you. If you need an opinion, you know what to do ya. *smile* Big hug for you. Hang in there k champ. *smile* Oh and ya, Leo’s a big superstar now. Perhaps one day I can open for his concert. Hehe. SM, can? Hehe.
CS, no la… only in July if all goes well.
No sooner than that unless something tragic happens, which I pray won’t be the case!!! Haha. Wish it was sooner tho… Anyhoo, it’s good that with the internet now I can still be around virtually. Hehe. Hope all’s well at your end. *smile* Hugs.
